new release of Scan To BIM 2015.1

Image
This release has many small improvements and one major feature that changes the way Scan To BIM is used for piping with the addition of an “easy button” like feature called Auto-Find Pipes. This feature when used will scan the entire point cloud or a selected area and look for pipes then create matching pipe runs using native Revit geometry .  A video playlist of some of the items in 2015.1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRxAXG3D8Lk&list=PLGzJTXx9gbj-bLDzD9N8DpjnvCl-qMqBl&index=2 A few more items in this release to make note of: Help File is now web based, we can edit and update for all users at any time (ie add a more detailed example)   More Tutorials, added via the app but pulling from our youtube playlist for STB 2015. Tweak to Deviation, smaller numbers and Grid Deviation now supports placing numbers in the grid view (center of each grid) as shown in the video above. The Adjust Pipe feature has now been moved from the Create Pulldown Menu t...

News this week - the beloved AUGI Forums has had a long awaited  upgrade of the forum software to vBulletin 4.1.11  and its looking pretty slick but don't take my word for it - go Visit the AUGI Forums Whilst this version of software has many new features, at this time, AUGI are only implementing the ones we already have active. Others will be implemented as they are tested and they become Board approved. I can tell you though, that there is a new mobile skin for the site that is implemented automatically if you browse to the website using a supported mobile device.  :) I hope your experience with this upgrade goes as smooth as possible, as mine did... Late last week, the March edition of AUGIWorld was released. This edition featured Tips, Tricks & Techniques including some great Jay Z's Revit Tips n' Tricks and Mark Kiker's Mac Apps

Indispensable Time-Savers for Autodesk Revit

Image
I 'm slowly getting back into blogging after our glorious holiday in Canada & Alaska…  During a recent Revit Fundamentals Training course, I'd like to remind all that IMAGINiT Utilities for Revit 2012 are now available on their website and in their client portal - a facility for  IMAGINiT’s Autodesk Subscription and Support clients. IMAGINiT Utilities for Revit 2012 supports only Revit 2012 products however they do also offer versions for Revit 2010 and Revit 2011.  New for 2012 include… ViewSetup  Cover all the levels, phases and types of views you want with information presented to you in the ViewSetup utility in a grid, you can easily generate dozens to hundreds of new views with ease.  DWFPlus  Create DWF files with more BIM information - whether augmenting parameter data in 2D and 3D, adding hyperlinks, or creating new viewpoints to highlight content, DWFPlus will make your DWFs into the deliverables you expect from Revit.  Tran...

We have lift off… It's Alive In The lab

W oo Hoo, as commented earlier  I can now report that the  Project Vasari technology preview Is Now Available You can download Project Vasari via Autodesk Labs here Project Vasari is a design tool with analysis capabilities available via the cloud. Project Vasari is compatible with Revit in that files created by Project Vasari can be opened using Revit 2011, and Revit files can be opened by Project Vasari. There are some limitations in that, as a conceptual modeler, Project Vasari does not support some features (e.g., detailed model elements such as walls, windows, doors, etc.) The thinking is that you would start with Project Vasari and then continue with Revit 2011 to make more detailed models - not the other way around. In a nutshell… Project Vasari it's basically Revit for people who don't need all of Revit.

Revit Update 2 available

From information gleamed from the AUGI Forums and Twitter earlier today... The Update can be applied to all languages of Revit Architecture. Currently, only the English download page has the update, but the other language download pages will be available by the middle of next month. Until then users with other languages can download the update from the English page. Please note, the update release does not contain any new functionality. However, we are developing functionality enhancements that will be available to Subscription customers in the near future. All of the fixes that are in Updates 1 & 2 will be included in the functionality enhancement release, so if you need to update a large number of seats it may be best to wait until it is released unless there is a fix that you absolutly must have. Thanks Scott for the update

Great news... Autodesk expands options for Mac Users

I've been a bit slow in catching up with the latest news news but this is definitely great news to hear that Autodesk has expanded its its support for us Mac users... Autodesk will now support use of AutoCAD software, AutoCAD LT software, Autodesk Inventor Professional software, Autodesk 3ds Max software, Autodesk 3ds Max Design software and the Autodesk Revit software platform for building information modeling (BIM) on Mac OS X via Parallels Desktop . Autodesk added official support for these products on the Mac via Boot Camp earlier this year.
