BDANT Design Awards & 10th Anniversary

Well, its all over bar the shouting and quite likely there'll be a few sore bodies after last night's BDANT Building Design Awards and 10th anniversay celebrations, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Darwin. I was here to help out the dedicated committe here in the NT with their Powerpoint presentation and to catch up with old friends...

One of the first to arrive was, BDAA National President, Ray Brown and his lovely first Lady Leslea. The evening was MC'd by friend & fellow building designer, Chris Renehan and was an outstanding success - my congrats go to BDANT's Riarna MacCarthy and her team, along with overall Design Excellence winner, Bennett Design. Friends, Pam Martin and John Berryman were also amongst the winners, last night, congratulations guys... well done.
One of the highlights of the evening, was the introduction of the BDANT's past presidents that they've had over the past 10 years, namely...
John Berryman, Chris Renehan, Wayne Gabbert, Gregg Jettner and current president, Riarna MacCarthy.

Well well, looks like an enjoyable event! I see John Berryman was let loose in the tropical disco shirt department!! Do pass on my congratulations (he seems to keep winning awards!) and regards to him when you're next in contact. Am I right that he has now seen sense and starting using Revit? (guessing from a SARUG post). All the best Elrond

Free (or Low Cost) Apps for Mac OSX

The best thing I ever did was switch from PC to Mac OSX which seems like eons ago now…   Since then, many other friends and relatives have also switched and have asked me for a list of my favourite free (or low cost) "tools" or "apps" for the Mac that will make their lives easier… This is what I've come up with so far (in no particular order)... A Surprise Visit

Well to date May exacty hasn't been a great 'month'. It sorta started off well with me in Brisbane, finishing off the BDA's Eco-Smart training the day before, unfortunately things had deteriorated during the night... my left leg was severvely swollen and it'd looked like I had dipped my leg in red food colouring... for the first time in my life I wasn't looking forward to flying but I made it home where my darling MBH organized an after hours doctor to visit who immediately sent me packing to the emergency department of the hospital. OK Sat May 2 arrives with me having brekkie in the emergency dept whilst waiting to be delivered to my room for the next ??? days After spending a few days here, with the wonderful doctors lancing my 'postules' on my leg, the pain helped partially by the meds a surprise visitor appeared... and man what a spirit-lifter :) Whilst I was trying to type up some minutes, who should appear near the end of my bed... none other than
